Krull was on the Sony Movies rotation recently if you have that channel - I taped it from there a couple of months ago.

I imagine that in 2054 when the nanobots hosting the latest final cut of Justice League are injected into my cerebral cortex I'll still be saying I've taped it.

It definitely shows the average age of this place. No one under 30 would even get that.

I had a 14 inch tv/vcr with timer. Even though I'd gone to bed, it worked its magic with channel 5.

Nailed the skyline trilogy, didnít I?

Skyline - the only one I had seen previously and I always thought it was a bit wank. I kind of softened to it this time around. Itís got all the hallmarks of a found footage movie but mercifully isnít. The monsters are actually pretty cool and really well designed.

    6/10

Beyond Skyline - starts off as a parallel story to skyline and then makes a hard right turn into some kind of weird guyver movie, swapping the cool aliens of the first film for rubber suited goons that the guy off captain America and the two guys from The Raid can punch. Itís so stupid itís actually quite entertaining

    5/10

Skylines - starship troopers on a SyFy budget. They even have the same helmets. Just as stupid as the last one but po-faced and boring with it. Absolute shit.

    3/10

How the fuck did they get three films out of this?

Itís definitely one of the weirder things to have happened in cinema recently. Middlingly average low budget sci-fi comes out in 2010, gets little reception and fades away into obscurity. Then seven years later, boom, a sequel no one asked for seemingly out of nowhere.

The Krull cast is all sorts of weird. Bit of Dune, bit of Carry On, Boon, pissy Neeson, Tucker, Hagrid, Darth Vaderís mate ďWe count 30 Rebel ships Lord VadarĒ and a multitude of actors you recognise from daytime tv. I think they spent all the budget on Lysette Anthonyís hair.

Man. Krull cost 47 million to make...Jedi the same year had a budget of 32.5!

I do have a soft spot for the original Skyline. It was just a film relentlessly showing humans being killed by aliens. Nothing else. Just kill humans.

Never got round to seeing the sequels tho.

    According to IMDB aye.

Other places report 30, but still.

To be fair to Krull (someone has to be), the sets and location work are fucking great. The sets in particular are hugggge and filled the Bond stage at Pinewood.

The costumes are also pretty good. Rollicking good James Horner score too.

    SKYLIN3S, bro.

Yeah I accidentally watched the 3rd before the sequel and was so baffled I had to check twice that Sky hadn't made some labelling error.

From the trailer I thought the 2nd looked OK with Rumlow bashing about on Earth. Guess not.

SKYLIN3S was so absurd it bordered on a cheap parody.

Itís not even a fight, itís just a joke. Japanese Godzilla straight up murders it in about five seconds.

    Godzilla vs Kong

Not quite as bad as I was expecting, but most of the criticism I've seen is valid. Dull human bits that could have been dropped with some decent monster fights.

    5/10

*I donít mind the 98 film as far as 90s disaster films go its mostly alright. Its just not Godzilla, is it.

    Watchmen

I hadn't seen this since it first came out and it's still as terrible as I remember it.

It has all those horrible Synder traits (S&M fetish, bleakness and slow-mo) and practically every character is just a different version of Batman. I genuinely can't understand what Rorschach is saying most of the time and he's just terrible character. The story's all over place as well 3/10.

There are a lot of criticisms you can make about Snyder's Watchmen, but Jackie Earle Haley isn't one of them, he's spot on.
