2 is still great. Mostly because of Alfred Molina though.

Iíd forgotten just how Evil Dead the Doc Ock hospital scene was. He snuck some crazy stuff in considering these were the biggest movies in the world at the time

I've always struggled a bit with his dodgy accent in it. And they definitely should have given him the basin cut.

    Nobody. 2021

Better Call Saul kicks some serious arse. Brutal revenge film.

    Minor Premise

It feels like an extended episode of Black Mirror. It's never as good or as clever as it thinks it is, but it's not bad for Sci fi on a budget.

    5/10

    Love and Monsters

Predictable tosh, not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. Effects are ok and it ended well. I'd watch a sequel.

    Needed more spiders/10

In fact, that's a good point. Where were all the spiders?

I watched it last night too, enjoyed it.

Reminded me of a cross between zombie land and 8 Legged Freaks (which had all the giant spiders you could ever want :)).

    Isle of Dogs

I didn't think I was going to like this but seeing the stop motion in action really is breathtaking. It has a great cast and is one of those films you don't want to take your eyes from.

    9/10

    Mary and the Witch's Flower

Made by some of the big players behind Studio Ghibli. It's gorgeous to look at and well voiced but lacks any real substance compared to the films it's emulating.

    8/10

    Deadpool 2

A couple of my favourite characters from one of my favourite comics growing up team up with Deadpool and his mutant power of channelling Reddit into speech.

The action is fun, most of the big jokes failed to land, Domino is the best part.

    7.5/10

I thought Domino barely had anything to do tbh.

    Love and Monsters

I thought it was just ok at the start, but it grew on me as it progressed. The main character's personal journey is a decent yarn, and I enjoyed some of the support characters - the young girl in particular. Some of the monsters were a bit unconvincing, but I appreciated the variety. A fun romp.

    7/10

As someone with hearing loss, Sound of Metal was a bit gutpunchy at times but very, very excellent

    Nobody - 8/10

Pretty much John Wick with Saul Goodman instead. Surprisingly enjoyable stuff even if it isn't the most original film ever.

    Prospect

A father and daughter go to an Alien planet looking for valuable resources. You can see why Pedro Pascal got picked for Joel.

    7/10

Agreed, loved Prospects sense of place its world building was outstanding given the budget. Grown up SciFi where nothing is spoon-fed. Watched it numerous times now. Plus Pascal talks like Mal...

High Ground 6/10 Aussie aboriginal story, usual tropes unfortunately, but story is told well, bar some unintentionally comedic moments and the outback looks magnificent. Kinda recognised the lead, realised after it was the mentalist.

Nobody 7/10 Not my normal fare, but enjoyed, brutal action nice seam of humour running through it. Entertaining stuff

    Solaris - 1972 - 9/10

An amazing film, amazing cinematography, brilliant set design and some very good performances.

Not sure if would have been as good in the empire
