So, I'm thinking of getting the Stranglehold (I know, I know) special edition (with the Hard Boiled flick included) from a US importer coz it's cheaper and while I know the game is region free, does anyone know if the film can be played on a Euro PS3? Many films do and it would make sense if this one did, but you know.....

    Nope, it won't play.

Wrong region. Although games are (relatively) region free, flicks still aren't.

The film is on the same disc as the game, not a seperate Blu-ray.

/edit/ And to clarify, it's not region-locked. No PS3 games are. Midway were going to lock Stranglehold, but after the big internet shitstorm that resulted from that decision they backed down.

Isn't the bonus feature a blu-ray? I thought they could be region locked but currently weren't. I bought Planet Earth from the US and that works fine on my PS3. I would suggest checking a few forums to see if Hard Boiled is region locked.

I use Movietyme and they have a list of US discs that play on European PS3's (including Planet Earth of course)and I would assume that as the game is region free, so would the film be (and it's all on the same Blu Ray).

(in fact, I only get my films from that site at the moment coz they are cheaper - seems like a suprising number of studios are choosing not to region lock their discs - at the moment anyway)

Mine arrived from Canada today, works fine on PAL ps3.

The game plays very well. Hard Boiled doesn't look amazing but certainly watchable.

    All on one disc.

i bought the game yesterday at me local importer. the game is pretty fun and the movie is one of my favourites anyway. the image quality is high, a bit better than the dvd image...but the sound is absolutely awful. it sounds like "mono"...poor mono sound, no bass effects at all.

anyway, in the end a good game and a great movie...
