Found a lot of info on the game so thought I'd start an online (ps3) COD4 thread.

Similar to the warhawk one post your PSN ID if you're getting the game and I'll add you to the OP so we can add people who will be playing the game. The online setup is supposed to be much better than warhawks currently is so hopefully as soon as the game is released we can get games together.

Online Information

Game Modes
-Team Deathmatch (Players split into 2 teams, and must kill each other. The team to earn the set amount of points, or finish the round with the most amount of points wins.)
-Free For All aka Deathmatch (Similar to Team Deathmatch, with the exception that there are no teams. It is everyone for themselves.)
-Search And Destroy (Team A plants a bomb, while Team B either tries to defuse the bomb or kill everyone else on Team A, Vice versa.NO RESPAWNS 1 LIFE ONLY!!!)
-Domination (Has 3 different capture points, then defend the catpure point. There are only 6 people on each team)
-Headquarters (Currently Unknown)
-Sabotage (Sabotage, in which both teams must try to grab a bomb and deliver it to the enemy’s base. The interesting twist here is the fact that the player holding the bomb has a big, red “KILL” indicator over his head. So, yeah, that makes for some pretty stressful moments.)
-Capture The Flag (Standard capture the flag, both teams try to grab opposing team's flag and return it to there base)
-Team Tactical (Small team deathmatch and search and destroy, 2v2 or 3v3)

Kill Streaks:
-Kill 3 Enemies in a row earns "Radar" for that match (Ability To See Enemies On Radar)
-Kill 5 Enemies in a row earns "Airstrike" for that match (Sends an Airstrike to the selected are.)
-Kill 7 Enemies in a row earns "Helicopter Support" for that match (Calls in Helicopter, the Helicopter circles the map for about 2 min. shooting all enemies.)

Perks

Perk 1:
Bomb Squad (C4x2 , Claymore x 2 , RPG-7 x 2 , Special Grenades x 3, Frag x 3)
Bandoiler (Adds more Ammo to your magazine.)

Perk 2 :
Juggernaut (Gives player more Health)
Slieght of Hand (Reloads much quicker)
Stopping Power (More weapon damage)
UAV Jammer (Jams enemy radar so the enemy cannot see you)
Sonic Boom (Adds damage to an explosive)
Double Tap (Makes bullets shoot faster)
Over Kill (Ability to have two primary wepons, ex: sniper and AK-47)

Perk 3:
Extreme Conditioning (Sprint longer)
Steady Aim (Steadier aiming)
Last Stand (Shoot your pistol while dying)
Deep Impact (Better penetration through walls)
Dead Silence (Less noise while running)
Iron Lungs (Hold breath longer while sniping)
Eavsedrop (Listen to enemy chat)
Martydrom (When player dies, he pulls out a grenade)

Kill Cam:
Kill cam has returned from Call of Duty 2, Kill cam is something that allows you to view the way you died after you have been killed. This is a great feature for knowing when someone is camping in a certain spot.

Voice Chat: The big question so far! Will Call of Duty 4 have Voice Chat for the PLAYSTATION 3? Well, I am very happy to announce that YES it will have voice chat supported for all platforms. This will be a great thing for this game, it wont be like Call of Duty 3. Thank you Infinity Ward

L2 = Throw special grenade
L1 = Aim down sight

R2 = Throw Frag grenade
Start = Open objectives/menu
Select = Not Used

Hardcore Mode Information

In Hardcore Mode all HUD elements are gone, unless you get UAV Recon (radar) then the mini-map pops up for radar for 30 seconds but that's the only time the mini-map is visible.

The idea of Hardcore mode is to be more realistic, so you have no Ammo Counter, no Icons telling you who are friendlies, just you, your weapon and the world. Plus the increased weapon damage, friendly fire is turned on, and no Kill cam.

That's what makes Hardcore mode so fun, you have to use your eyes and ears to your advantage. Keeping track of your ammo, knowing where the bomb sites are, knowing friendlies from foes. Using your wits not your HUD.

Plus, in Hardcore mode you SHOULD be communicating with your team, so there should be little moments where you don't know one of your snipers is right in front of you.

For example:

Soldier 1: "Sniper at wood bridge!"
Soldier 2: "That's me ass!"
Soldier 1: "My bad...."

Problem solved. Communication FTW!

can PS3 owners play Xbox owners online?

I would have thought it'd be a reasonable thing to expect.

I wouldn't include the PC owners though, since mouse control is easier and would give an advantage.

nope.

kill cam has returned from INFINITY WARD, because call of duty 3 is one of those games i'd like to forget activision ever passed away to a porting developer.

Most of he other games are online region locked, however. (PSN games like CAC! and Go Puzzle! plus MotorStorm?) well, maybe not most..
