I’d like to see them, remember the bike from back in the day. I dug the elastomers out of my forks after about 15 years in order to service and sell them and they’d turned absolutely solid. Be worth checking how they feel.

@freddymercurystwin Thanks for that, uploaded a few images to the link, how do I get them into a post?

Have the bike, but storing at my inlaws as as our utility room is currently over run with festive goodies.

The bike is bloody amazing though, I believe now that it dates from around 92/93 RC200 F3's are from that period. It is a bit of a shelf queen at the moment and will be serviced by Primara cycle shop which is a stones throw from my house once I give them a call.

I was wondering if it was worth getting it clear coated? The frame is naked aluminum and is in great almost new shape bar some age related pitting on the chain stay. I'd like to keep it in the condition it is but use it too.

Awesome, I love the external butting and the obligatory MASSIVE stem of the era.
They looked so space age at the time with the square tubes. Pace claimed they were stiffer, and I think they were, but always wondered if they had to make up the inherent gap in strength from a round tube with extra thickness and weight.
Can’t believe I used to throw myself down mountains with such little travel...

The less spokes, the more expensive the wheel

True, but the stiff air required for the gaps is expensive to engineer.

Frame was about 2k but the paint was almost as much again. SR12 and the wheels are dear, I’m trying not to think about it too hard tbh

    Ooft. Nice, but 'spensive! 😃

I want a new bike, but maybe not that much.

Especially as I'm tempted to splurge a load of cash on a kickr bike for home training in winter. Which is already pretty pricy.

And i want to replace my ancient cateye bike computer with a nice head unit.

    Why is cycling so expensive?

Anyway that’s my last bicycle for a while. No more space in the dungeon for another

re square tubing: not sure about bike frames but square steel tubing is less prone to bending, but more prone to twisting. I wouldn't of thought bend resistance is key in bike frames, as you are not really applying loads there, so no real reason to use heavier square tubes.

Also, you could clearly get one or two Bromptons in that pic!

Nice. I think you can fit a few more in there :) Still got the left wall. And the ceiling to hang bikes from too :)

Think I will apply the n+1 rule to my self next year. Will have to see how finances play out, but thinking about a touring bike. Don't know if I'll be able to get away next year so might do the new king Alfred way route. Then double up as winter bike next year. Probably get a surly, or genesis or something. Quite like the ribble 725 frames too (which you can paint customise too!)

If you want a custom painted Ribble any time in 2021 I would order ASAP.

I prefer the d-1 rule, whereby, the optimum number of bikes is the amount that would get you divorced, minus one.

    😃

It's a fine line to navigate for sure!

I still want to ditch my mtb for a cx/gravel bike and would quite like to upgrade/replace my current road bike. I am only on n=3, so got a ways to go yet given the amount in elstoof's bike haul!
