Why would a rear wheel start clicking when free wheeling when it was silent in the past?

Perhaps it was packed quite thickly with grease – now that you've been using it, it's moved around and become a little thinner. I think it's typical to hear the ratchet in the hub, so not something to worry about.

Oh I'm not worried, just irritated.

Just wear large, over the ear noise cancelling headphones.

My Cube Hyde with it's hub gear and belt drive is silent except for the tyres rolling on the tarmac, absolutely love that aspect of this bike. :)

The only solution for an annoying clicking noise is to take everything apart, re-grease, lose some important spring/clip/gasket, forget how it went together in the first place, then take it to a bike shop to fix it.

Hah. It's a way to piss off the rider in front, or give a heads-up to pedestrians.

Anyone got a view on Ribble bikes? The Endurance 725 Disc Sport with a Shimano 105 groupset looks interesting, particularly as I could get a custom two-tone paint job which appeals to the tart in me.

    I have that very bike.

    It's awesome.

The only complaint I have with Ribble is that they delivered the bike a day earlier than stated, but luckily I was in, so it wasn't too traumatic.

I degreased the chain and headset this morning chick seems to have stopped the clicking. Had a drive up to Kielder this morning and did the 30 mile track around the reservoir. Fantastic track if you're ever up this way, ideal for gravel bikes. I did end up doing a somersault into a hedge on one of the downhill section though. Gratuitous bike shot below

Lovely scenery… Are your handlebars comfortable? Typically the top of the bar/shifter is parallel to the ground, and the drops will point backwards rather than down.

That does look like it needs a slight tweak.

Nice pic though, lovely day for it by the looks of things.

Yeah I messed on with them for while to get them comfortable. It doesn't feel great on the drops though. So you're saying tilt them forward a bit?

They should be pointing forwards rather than at the sky.

Kielder has some nice spots, I did the Dirty Reiver around there a while back. Bit of a slog towards the end

Yep – you might feel a bit lower, but it should allow a little more leverage on the brakes in both positions.

If it's uncomfortable, then do a little bit at a time and let your upper body adapt.

    Pictures will help.

Here’s current Tour leader Tadej Pogacar’s bike, note the handlebar position:

And here’s cockney mouthpiece Suralun Sugar’s bike, again noting that handlebar position:

My Fitbit shit itself halfway round and stopped recording distance so everytime I looked at my watch it was saying 15 miles. Took way longer to realise what was happening than I care to admit. I thought I was just going really slowly.

Is this handlebar thing some cyclists faux pas atrocity that I've committed?

Yes. And the pedal arrangement in that photo was a disaster!

    :-)

    No-one really minds, but:

I was wondering why so many people shout cunt at me when they ride passed. I just assumed it was because of my scandalously revealing pants.
