I haven't caught up on yesterday's race yet but just tuned in to see Wiggins going around corners like an old lady in the ITT. RAI just mentioned he crashed earlier. That might explain that. |

Registered 14 years agoTsss. Italians.
Radio RAI reports a crash. RAI TV claims there was no fall.
Watching Evans hammer it down the turns, Wiggins is going to lose a chunk of time. -

Registered 13 years agoWiggins swapped bikes, not sure why. Shouldn't have lost much time, swift change over. Still, 50 odd seconds down on Dowsett at the last split. -

Registered 15 years agoSlowly deflating rear tyre apparently. He's way off the pace, given that ITT is his speciality I can only presume there's physically something up with him. Wouldn't be surprised if he abandons, tbh. -

Registered 15 years agoHe seemed to close up in the last 5km though, surprised he caught up to that extent. Mind you, some proper good TTers out there. Evans can turn in a very strong performance on his day. -

Registered 13 years agoAh, the split times were probably off because his second bike didn't have a time chip. -

Registered 13 years agoDowsett's time is starting to look like it was a bit of a stormer now we've got a few more big names coming through the second split. -

Registered 14 years agoSurprised to see Wiggins come back to second place yesterday. Seeing him descend after that bike swap, you'd think he was going to lose a shedload. Impressive last section. -
yeah he was prancing around those corners. He made refrence in the sky blog that a lot of the corners were still damp. He went out 20 or so riders, an hour or so ahead of all his rivals which i guess gave time the shady parts to dry out.
Great watching him TT though. Machine! -

Registered 14 years agoMan, the weather is brutal, must suck to peddle through such shit weather for several hours a day.
Excellent show by Pirazzi and Chalaput for the mountain points. =)
Spices things up a bit. -

He seems to've really lost his confidence downhill. I hope he can put himself above it after the rest day.

Registered 13 years agoNice to see Wilier frames on the Giro today, thought they were out after the Lampre split. Good ride from the Columbian lad on one of them too. -

Registered 12 years agoPoor Betancur thought he had taken the stage when he came in. Another good day at this Giro. Not for Hesjedal and my velogames team though.

Registered 14 years agoYeah, i thought Betancourt was really pleased with that second place for a second.
Must be a bit of a downer to come in like that and find out another has already crossed the line. The smile on number three's face was quite brilliant -
his a very promising rider. should score a few points for me today
Wiggo has lost it going downhill hasn't he? His a pretty decent descender as well. Not sure if it confidence or just making sure he gets through the stages. Nibali and co will certainly test his metal come the bigger descents.
I missed the 1 cat climb, what was he like going up there? caltado isn't 100%, wonder if wiggo is slightly under the weather as well. -

Registered 14 years agoUphilll was uneventful it was downhill where the spectacle was. Coming down a descent and losing a minute is not being cautious. It's being shit scared on the bike. The roads were odd though. People seemed to come off if they so much as caressed the break handles.
Another odd thing was to see Hesjedal do all the climbs just fine but then get dropped and lose 2.5 minutes on the cat 4 climb. Maybe he made the rookie mistake of forgetting to eat?
Today might hurt Sky in more then one way though. The main man came downbill like a granny. That's bad for morale. When they lost a minute, Nabili, Evans et all upped the pace up front, forcing team Sky into a mini team time trial to get Wiggo back into the pack. A wasre of energy and a bit demoralising for the guys, especially if he's hanging off the back of the peloton again hardly keeping up after the next summit. Should make for a joyful atmosphere at dinner tonight and during tomorrow's day off. -

Registered 13 years agoDidn't think I would, but I went for the blue one. I like the red but my Wilier is red so I thought it would be too similar to feel special if I had another another, and spending that much coin on a black bike seems like a shame somehow. The blue has grown on me though, Colnagos in blue seem to just work, like the classic Mapei schemes used to be.
Was funny getting fitted up down at Sigma, the guys thought I was mental for running the amount or saddle to bar drop that I do. Got me on the turbo just to see if I could actually reach the bars. -

Registered 13 years agoThey measured it at 16cm, which does seem a fair amount when looking at the numbers, I've never actually measured it myself - shallow drop bars though as I like my hoods to be low as well so the actual saddle to bar measure could be misleading. I'm mostly arms and legs at 6ft tall, and my back is pretty much horizontal in the drops. -

Registered 15 years agoThat's quite a lot, but if you're an all arms and legs Froome-spider then I can see why. -
Ugh, I actually feel nauseous to look at him, the bony spider with joints thicker than the limbs isn't a good look imo. I'm the same height and weight as Geraint Thomas, though without the legs to match unfortunately.
